Game Information
× - The University of Texas-Pan American baseball team will host six teams from across the U.S. at the National Independent Tournament, that is slated to begin on Wednesday (May 21) at the Edinburg Baseball Stadium at 1 p.m.

× - The Broncs will host Houston Baptist, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Northern Colorado, New York Tech and Le Moyne to the Rio Grande Valley.

× - The tournament will run through Sunday with three games on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and a single game on the final day of the tournament.

× - The first game of the tournament will begin at 1 p.m. with New Jersey Tech and New York Tech going head-to-head on Wednesday followed by a match-up against Northern Colorado and Houston Baptist.

× - The Broncs will play their first game on Thursday with all games slated for 7 p.m. UTPA will go head-to-head with NJIT, followed by NYIT on Friday, Houston Baptist on Saturday and Le Moyne on the final day.

× - Senior Roly Gonzalez leads the Broncs offensively with a .333 batting average with 70 hits, 49 runs scored and 29 RBI's.

× - The Broncs have already surpassed their win total from a year ago and will look to finish on a high note with four games remaining on the 2008 campaign.

Broncs Get Sweep in Fort Worth
× - The Broncs enter the five-day tournament on a four game losing streak with three loses coming against Texas Christian University on the road in Fort Worth, TX.

× - In game one, the Broncs dropped a 4-3 decision with Shane Janecka taking the loss for the Broncs. Janecka dropped his record to 2-6, pitching 6.0 innings, allowing three hits, four runs - two earned while only walking four batters.

× - The Broncs saw the same result in game two with the Horned Frogs rolling to a 13-3 victory.

× - Senior Matt Shepherd took the loss for the Broncs dropping his overall record to 4-4. Shepherd pitched 5.0 innings, giving up 11 hits, 10 runs - nine earned while striking out two batters.

× - Newcomer Jose Mendoza led the Broncs offensively finishing 2-for-4 with one run scored while four other Broncs finished with multi-hit performances.

× - Even with a five-run advantage heading into the bottom of the sixth, the Horned Frogs were able to rally from behind and record a 8-5 win in game three of the series.

× - The Broncs defense was solid through five innings till the Horned Frogs plated six runs on four hits in the sixth frame.

× - The Broncs were silenced in the final three frames of the game, as the Horned Frogs collected a single run in seventh and in the eighth, on their way to their seventh straight victory.

× - Bonham Hough led he Broncs finishing 1-for-3 with two RBI's and two runs scored while Ryan Vest went 1-for-5 with two RBI's.

Gonzalez Leads the Nation in Stolen Bases
× - Leading the Broncs and the nation is stolen bases is senior Roly Gonzalez with 41 in 49 total attempts.

× - Gonzalez also ranks third in the nation in stolen bases per game with .79 and ranks in the top 300 in five different categories including runs per game, total runs, hits, base on balls and sacrifice bunts.

× - With the National Independent Tournament, Gonzalez will have four games to secure the number one spot in total stolen bases.

× - Gonzalez currently leads by one stolen base over senior Tony Campana of Cincinnati University.

Opponents Information
× - Le Moyne University enters the NIT with the best overall record with 30 wins and 20 losses.

× - The Dolphins will match-up against Northern Colorado on Thursday (May 22) at 3 p.m., Houston Baptist on Friday (May 23) at 11 p.m. followed by New Jersey Institute of Technology on Saturday (May 24) at 7 p.m. and a final game with host UTPA on Sunday with game time slated for 6 p.m.

× - Le Moyne is coming off a seven game winning streak including a three game sweep over Rider University and Iona University.

× - On the mound, the Dolphins are led by Eric Beaulac who leads the team with an 8-2 record while Matt Nandin leads the team offensively with a .360 batting average with 73 hits, 45 runs scored and 31 RBI's.

× - New Jersey Institute of Technology finished the regular season on a high note, collecting a 7-6 win over Wright State (May 18) and improving to a 5-43 overall record.

× - The Highlanders are lead offensively by Dom Hayes with a .310 batting average with 44 hits, 18 runs scored and 22 RBI's.

× - NJIT will be the first game of the tournament with a match-up against New York Tech at 1 p.m.

× - Northern Colorado is coming off a 5-2 setback against New York Tech (May 17) where they dropped to 18-32 on the season.

× - The Bears are led offensively Kevin Sandberg with a .335 batting average to go with 11 homeruns , 56 RBI's and 63 hits for the season.

× - The Bears will go head-to-head against Houston Baptist at 5 p.m. on Wednesday (May 21).

× - Houston Baptist will look to extend on their four-game winning streak heading into Wednesday night's game versus Northern Colorado at 5 p.m.

× - The Huskies recorded a three-game sweep over Houston-Victoria on (May 2-3) at home, improving to 21-22 overall.

× - Houston Baptist will match-up against host UTPA on Saturday (May 24) at 7 p.m. The last meeting between both teams was on Mar. 20-21, where they Broncs posted two wins over the Huskies.

× - New York Tech improved to 18-29 overall after recording a 5-2 victory over Northern Colorado on (May 17).

× - The Bears are led on the mound by Frank Ryan with a 5-4 record and a 5.24 earned run average. Offensively NYIT is led by Denten Neill with a .289 batting average to go with 26 RBI's, 52 hits, and 38 runs scored.
