Lady Broncs and Broncs Post Good Showing After One Round

After day one at the National Minority Golf Championships in Port St. Lucie, Fla, the Lady Broncs are currently riding in second place while the Broncs posted a fifth place finish over 13 teams.

As a team, the Lady Broncs posted a one-round score of 310 and trail Bethune-Cookman by one stroke for the lead.

Leading the way for the Lady Broncs is Mariale Camey, who is in first place with a 18-hole score of 75 (36-39) while Rebecca De Leon is currently tied for third with a 77 (39-38).

Tied for fifth is Brownyn Sandberg who recorded a 18-hole tally of 78 (40-38) while Haley Hocott finished with a 80 (42-38) tied for ninth and senior Jennifer Marks collected a one-round score of 90 (46-44) for a 20th place finish in day one.

On the men side, Shane Pearce leads the way with a one-round tally of 71 (35-36) for a second place finish while Armen Kirakossian recorded a 18-hole score of 72 (36-36) which placed him tied for third overall.

Tied for 24th place is senior Kyle Tudi who posted a one-round score of 76 (38-38) while newcomer A.J. Gonzalez collected a 18-hole tally of 80 (41-39) for a 38th place finish and Jeff Hensley came in 51st place with a one-round tally of 84 (46-38), respectively.

Savannah State leads the tournament with a team score of 293 while Florida A&M University (293), Jackson State (294), Bethune-Cookman (298), and UTPA (299) rounded off the top five.

The tournament continues with two additional 18-hole rounds on Saturday and Sunday, May 10-11.
