The University of Texas-Pan American men and women's track and field represented the program well at the 2008 Midwest Regional Track and Field Championships hosted by the University of Nebraska this past weekend.
"I feel that this was an overall good trip and I feel good going into next year," said head men and women's track and field coach Dennis Darling.
Brownsville native Stephanie Perez finished 25th in the women's discus with a toss of 134-07 with just one attempt, scratching her first two attempts. This is Perez's second trip to regionals in the past three years.
Junior J.J. Hernandez placed 19th in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:35.37.
"I know J.J. was disappointed and wanted to make it to regionals but I think this is a great experience and there is always next year," mentioned Darling of Hernandez.
The 2008 Midwest Regional Track and Field Championships marks the end of the 2008 track and field season for the Broncs and Lady Broncs.
